A life well lived

Rose Ann was born in Louisville Kentucky as the 5th of 8 children during the Great Flood of 1937. She was delivered in the upstairs of Grandma Riedinger’s house after the attending doctor arrived by boat, and likely thus began her draw to the water! She believed from a young age that she was the favorite child and namesake of her father Ambrose! She attended Holy Rosary Academy with studies focused on business courses. She relocated to Stuart, Florida in 1960 with her young family. She worked for years at the Manitee Marina followed by Van’s Flowers both in Port Salerno. She enjoyed ceramics, fishing, gardening and loved riding Appaloosa horses that she helped to raise, but above all, she loved sports; from Little League to Professional! Following the tragic death of her youngest child, her remaining family moved to Steinhatchee in North Florida in 1975. She worked at Cooey’s Restaurant and Dixie County Bank. After her children were grown she followed them by moving to Dallas, Texas in 1980. Grandchildren soon followed and little else mattered! She did become an avid quilter after becoming disabled and created many beautiful pieces that will keep her family warm for generations to come. Once Great Grandchildren began to arrive she found a new passion in candy dispensing, game playing, and play dates! She still found time for the Cowboys and especially the Dallas Mavericks, and would not have been opposed to listing Dirk as a surviving child. As the years passed, the illnesses progressed and when the option was presented, she chose to come home till the end so that she could spend as much time as possible with those Great Grand Kids. She rallied for one day and sat up to play dominos and talk about old times like they were yesterday! But the pull for peace was stronger and she went home to be with her Savior. Surely she is now surrounded by more loved ones and quite possibly a card game.
